Manchester United's Final Game Abandoned Due to a Suspicious Package in the Stadium

BREAKING NEWS: The Barclay’s Premier League soccer game between Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth was called off just moments before the kick-off because of the discovery of at least one suspicious package in the north-west corner of the stadium, according to local reports.

The 70,000-plus capacity Old Trafford stadium was evacuated, and each teams’ players were hurried off the field and down the tunnel before a ball was kicked.

The game – each team’s final contest of the season – was scheduled to kick-off at 3 p.m. According to reports, sniffer dogs were brought into the stadium soon after the package was discovered.

Neil Ashton, speaking to NBC’s Match of the Day host Steve Bower, said that he’d heard from a highly placed source that the suspect package is to be destroyed by police in a ‘controlled explosion.’
