One Response to National Security Expert Amy Zegart: Terrorist Threat Not Going Away Any Time Soon

I agree with her, especially about the part where the terrorists are changing and the Intelligence Community is still stuck in the Cold War. Part of that problem though are leaks from the IC which expose good programs that have been used to track terrorism. I am so tired of reading in the NY TImes, “Secret documents reveal….” Whoever is providing that information is just as much a traitor as the spy rings during the Cold War.
I agree with her assessment that HUMINT is important as well. I still don’t understand why the CIA hasn’t started to recruit police detectives. These detectives deal with snitches all of the time and are familar with the games that snitches play. But the CIA still prefers to recruit college kids who believe everything they are told. Small wonder the CIA is reliant on the British for their HUMINT.
