BARNSTABLE — Massachusetts emergency management officials have announced that federal funds will be available to cover more than $22 million in damage and other costs from Hurricane Sandy, including $1.1 million on Cape Cod and $10.1 million on Martha’s Vineyard.

Although the state escaped major physical damage from the storm, there were enough costs incurred by emergency responders to warrant the federal assistance, Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency spokesman Peter Judge said.
