Reports indicate that a black SUV with bullet holes in the windshield was pushed up against concrete barriers outside the entrance, while a handcuffed suspect appears to be sitting on the ground outside the vehicle. Passengers on United Airlines Flight 1175, a Boeing 777, bound for Hawaii on Tuesday [link url=”https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/02/14/plane-really-started-shaking-united-flight-loses-engine-cover-makes-emergency-landing-after-losing-e/336257002/” title=”braced for an emergency landing after the right engine cowling (cover) ripped away from the plane”]. Reports indicate that the plane experienced a loud bang and then violent shaking prior to the cover coming off the engine. [link url=”http://khon2.com/2018/02/13/united-airlines-flight-lands-safely-in-honolulu-despite-mechanical-issue/” title=”Crew members prepared the passengers on board for an emergency landing and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) crews”] were standing by, but the plane safely landed, then taxied to the gate, where passengers deplaned normally.

One person was killed and 22 people were injured after [link url=”https://www.reuters.com/article/us-austria-crash/one-killed-22-hurt-in-austrian-train-crash-police-idUSKBN1FW1CN” title=”two passenger trains collided in the southeastern town of Niklasdorf, Austria”], in the province of Styria. Three children were among those injured when [link url=”http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/austria-train-crash-latest-updates-dead-injured-niklasdorf-rail-police-emergency-a8206706.html” title=”a regional passenger train collided with an intercity train bound for Saarbruecken, Germany”], which caused several cars to derail. The crash occurred just before 1:00 p.m. on Monday, local time, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

On Monday night, Tropical Cyclone Gita, a Category 4 storm, [link url=”https://www.wunderground.com/news/2018-02-11-tropical-cyclone-gita-american-samoa-tonga-forecast-impacts” title=”wreaked havoc on the Pacific island of Tonga”], downing power lines, flattening homes and businesses, and causing widespread flooding. Winds of 125 mph tore across the island, and many people were injured, some seriously, but no deaths have been reported. The incident occurred outside the Thompson Center in an area known as the Loop, where Cmdr. Paul Bauer, 58, was in the area after attending ‘active shooter’ training. Bauer was in uniform and was said to have confronted the suspect, who then opened fire on the commander, killing him.   6. [link url=”http://www.india.com/news/india/blast-at-cochin-shipyard-in-kerala-4-people-killed-11-injured-2891846/” title=”Five people are dead and 11 more injured following a blast”] and fire onboard a ship undergoing repairs at the Cochin Shipyard Ltd., in India on Tuesday. The ship, owned by the nation’s top energy explorer, Oil and Natural Gas Corp Ltd, was undergoing maintenance when an explosion, sparked by a gas leak, occurred in the water tank. Reports indicate that [link url=”https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/at-least-4-killed-several-others-injured-in-blast-at-cochin-shipyard/story-V5DBLq0SjwurfGSHiYpmqO.html” title=”welding of the tank was occurring at the time of the blast”], and several people were trapped on the ship following the blast.

Ahmad Khan Rahimi did not apologize or show remorse during his trial for the injuries he caused to 30 people when he set off two bombs, one during a Marine Corp race in Seaside Park, New Jersey, and another one that exploded just hours later in Chelsea, New York. Another bomb was found and disabled before it exploded, sending police on a two day manhunt, [link url=”https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/02/13/585540292/life-in-prison-for-manhattan-bomber” title=”which ended in a shootout in Linden, New Jersey with the suspect”], who was shot several times but survived.  

  8. Officials from the Washington, D.C.
