Reports indicate that a black SUV with bullet holes in the windshield was pushed up against concrete barriers outside the entrance, while a handcuffed suspect appears to be sitting on the ground outside the vehicle. Reports indicate that the plane experienced a loud bang and then violent shaking prior to the cover coming off the engine. The incident occurred outside the Thompson Center in an area known as the Loop, where Cmdr. Paul Bauer, 58, was in the area after attending ‘active shooter’ training. Bauer was in uniform and was said to have confronted the suspect, who then opened fire on the commander, killing him. The ship, owned by the nation’s top energy explorer, Oil and Natural Gas Corp Ltd, was undergoing maintenance when an explosion, sparked by a gas leak, occurred in the water tank.
