Topsail High School, Topsail Middle, and Topsail Elementary remained on lockdown as an investigation continues, but the lockdown was lifted for the remaining schools in the county.

Authorities believe the gunman, former Marine, Ian David Long, 28, acted alone when he opened fire inside the Borderline Bar and Grille in Thousand Oaks, California Wednesday night.   5. Firefighters are battling another fire that began on Thursday in Southern California that has prompted mandatory evacuations and forced school closures in Ventura County. [link url=”https://www.vcemergency.com” title=”The Hill Fire”] began at approximately 2:04 p.m. on Thursday November 8, as a brush fire in the area of Hill Canyon in the Santa Rosa Valley, and [link url=”https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2018/11/09/california-wildfires-wall-fire-ravages-golden-state/1939919002/” title=”has now consumed 15 square miles (10,000 acres) amid high winds, low humidity, and drought-stricken fuels”]. Evacuation shelters are open for residents and their small pets, and separate shelters are also available for small and large pets.

Flight OJ256, a Boeing 757 aircraft departed the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Georgetown, Guyana, bound for Toronto, Canada, Friday morning, and shortly after, returned and made an emergency landing where it veered off the runway and crashed. Officials from Norway stated that eighteen people were on Jan Mayen island, all of whom were either military or meteorological institute staff, and everyone felt the quake. The tremor lasted for about 30 seconds, and while it was a large earthquake, no tsunami warnings were issued.
