The 910th Airlift Wing of the U.S. Air Force Reserve was called in to assist the city with the spraying and is using a modified C-130 aircraft to cover more than 600,000 acres, mostly outside the city limits. County Health officials have classified the cases as neuro-invasive, a situation where the virus attacks the central nervous system causing such things as tremors, high fevers, seizures, comas, or paralysis and the damage can be permanent. Currently, no vaccine or antiviral treatment exists for the West Nile Virus, although most people exhibit no symptoms.
