This is a short compilation of what has been confirmed thus far. It has been reported that a car bomb struck Oslo, Norway late in the afternoon today.

The blast seat from the bomb has not been shown in the media, but the area of damage appears to have affected a little more than half a city block.

Government buildings in the area indicate that they were the likely target. Several buildings in the area were also damaged.

Death toll at present has been confirmed at 7, but may change.

There was another attack on Utoya Island. This was carried out by an individual wearing a police uniform. Four have been confirmed dead, but eyewitnesses put the toll at 20 or more.

Norwegian police believe the two attacks are related. Information from official sources has been slow to reach the media – be careful of media speculation.

New York Times claimed that Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami, Helpers of the Global Jihad, claimed responsibility for the attack via a post on a jihadi forum. This claim has been rescinded.

More to come when details are revealed.
